Terms & Conditions 


1. To buy competition tickets and dinner, participants have to register online. Once purchasing is completed, the buyer receives a confirmation email. 

2. In case of Bank transfer or Cash payment it is obligatory to add 5% (Service fee). Without it payment will be incomplete. 

3. It suggested carrying the confirmation email in case of any check during the accreditation phase. 

4. Everyone must have entry tickets to participate at or attend the competition (except children under 6). 

5. If the couple, dancer, participant or visitor has, for any reason, made contact and informed the organizers about their cancellation after 01/04/2025, no payment refunds(including Packages, Entry tickets, entry fees etc) will be provided. 

If not present in the competition (haven’t arrived) no refunds will be provided to the couple, dancer, participant or visitor. 

6. The organizers have the right to refuse registration without any explanation for any person or couple. 

7. Twister, in coordination with Hotel, will provide more details regarding the Covid-19 security procedures in accordance with rules in force in Italy at the time of the event. 

8. Please be advised that at the competition we may not have the time to make changes or take additional entries. 

9. Deadline for entries is 15th of April 2025.

10. The competition will be photographed and filmed. The organizer reserves the right to use the materials for promotional purposes without any obligations. 

11. The organizer is not responsible for any injuries suffered during the tournament and is not responsible for the private belongings of participants and spectators. 

12.The organizer reserves the right to change the program without giving reasons.

13. Number of entries are limited. Organizers are eligible to not to accept registration above a certain level.

14. Organizers shall not be liable for any damage and belongings lost or left in a ballroom, changing rooms or any other rooms of the venue.

15. Organizers do not take any responsibility for any health problems and bodily injury (including death) inherent in attending the event. Participation is at own risk. Organizers reserve the right not to postpone the program in order to wait for the belated participants. In case of the missed heat, money for it shall not be refunded to the participants.

16. In any category with fewer than three entries the organizer reserves the right to eliminate the age and sex divisions and merge competitors into one open division, or to let compete more level categories at the same time on the floor. Change of the program is reserved.

17. Heel protectors MUST be used at all times.

18. All persons attending this event shall be bound by the rules of MALAGA OPEN dance championship available at www.malagaopen.eu. By signing up an entry form the participant accepts the rules of the competition.

19. In case of cancellation of participation in the competition more than 45 days before the competition, the entire payment is returned, and only an administrative fee of 50€ is charged.


Rules 


1. The teacher determines the students' dance level. Each student can dance in two or more adjacent levels. Only the student is judged. 

2. Open categories do not have any syllabus restrictions. Closed categories have the syllabus restrictions based on the level, which are determined by the NDCA rules and regulations. For Argentine Tango style, these restrictions can be seen at the bottom of these rules. 

3. Age Groups are determined by the age of the student. Participants can dance in their own age bracket and all younger age groups. 

4. In the Show Dance Competition only one dance is allowed per couple. Show length must not exceed 2 minutes, including entrance and exit. Judging criteria will refer, among others, to technique, artistic elements, and image. Props such as Chairs, Sticks, and other things, are not allowed. All couples dance with the same lights. 

5. All music has to be given to the DJ in due time, prior to competition start (by USB if not sent before the competition day) 

6. All competition participants must be in the ballroom at half an hour before the start of their heat start time, provided in the Heat List issued the day of the event. The organizers do not have to stop the competition if a couple did not come on the dance floor for their heat. If the couple has missed their heat, no money will be returned. 

7. The organizer is not responsible and cannot be held liable for any personal belongings left in the ballroom, the changing rooms or any other competition premises. 

8. Competition organizers are not liable and not responsible for any health problems or injuries during the event. This is solely the risk of the participants. 

9. In order to be eligible for Scholarship competition, the couple must dance and register for Single Dances in the same dance style they wish to dance the Scholarship (3 in Argentine Tango, 4 in Caribbean Mix, 4 in American Smooth). 10 single dances for 10 Dance Scholarship Competition (no ages category). 

10. To enter the Top Open Championship the couple must have registered and danced for the Scholarship. A couple dancing in the Over 45 age group can take part in the Under 45 age group if they wish so. 

11. Tango Salon must be danced in a unique and close hold, which cannot be broken throughout the whole dance. In some figures the hold can change from close to open, but it cannot be used for all the duration of the dance. All the movements and figures must be made within the couple space. It is forbidden to use any dance figures used in Scene type Tango, for example Gancho, Jumps and Lifts. Couples must be dancing in the general dance direction (anticlockwise) and cannot be in one place for a long time. In Tango Freestyle both Open and Closed hold is allowed throughout the whole dance. The hold in general is much more free than in Salon and hand leading is permitted. During Freestyle it is permitted to use dance figures which make partners step out of the couple hold area (Boleo, Gancho, high Colgada and Volcada, etc.). Couples are not allowed to use lifts, jumps and figures which are not used in traditional Tango.
